Kolkata Airport issues new guidelines for UK travellers. Know the details here

Kolkata Airport has made Covid testing compulsory for all UK travelers on arrival. According to Kolkata Airport, “As per the revised guidelines of the Government of West Bengal, only international passengers arriving on flights from the UK at Kolkata Airport are required to undergo 100% Covid testing (90% RAT and 10 % RT-PCR) on arrival”.

Meanwhile, international travelers will no longer need to self-quarantine for seven days or get tested at airports across the country from tomorrow, February 14, according to revised guidelines from the Ministry of Health. union. As the Omicron wave subsides in the country, the government has decided to scrap repeat Covid testing on day 8 of arrival.

Under revised central government guidelines, international passengers should monitor their health for a period of 14 days and report any Covid-19-like symptoms either to the nearest health facility or to the government helpline 1075 .

There will be a 2% random sampling of international travelers from all countries upon arrival. They can give their samples and will be allowed to leave the airport after that, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Twitter.

Passengers will be able to upload an RT-PCR report (performed 72 hours prior to travel), as well as certificates of completion of full primary Covid vaccination.

Passengers found to be symptomatic during post-arrival screening should be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility in accordance with health protocol. If they test positive, their contacts should be identified and managed according to established protocol.

If these travelers test positive, their samples should be sent for genomic testing to the INSACOG laboratory network and they will be processed/isolated according to standard protocol, the guidelines say.

International travelers arriving through sea/land ports will need to follow the same protocol, except that the online check-in feature is not currently available for these passengers.

Children under five are exempt from pre-arrival and post-arrival testing.
