The Home Office is looking for people to work in government border forces across the UK as tighter restrictions take effect.
Last week, the government’s new quarantine policy went into effect on Monday. It requires travelers arriving in the UK to self-isolate for fourteen days – or face a fine of Â£ 1,000.
Passengers must complete a form up to 48 hours before arrival with details of where they will self-isolate. Registration without the form is subject to a flat-rate penalty of Â£ 100.
As the rules tighten, border controls become more and more important and the Home Office has launched a recruitment drive and is advertising for people to join the Border Force Apprenticeship in the capital – which will be probably based at Edinburgh airport.
Described as one of the “most important and difficult jobs in government”, Border Force is the law enforcement body of the Home Office and is responsible for border security in the country. UK.
Your job covers counterterrorism, immigration, customs matters and the apprentice will also have to work with the wider Home Office to tackle organized crime, modern slavery and trafficking.
The government says it is currently looking for a number of apprentices to join the Operational Delivery program, where you can expect to earn a salary of Â£ 21,011. Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, it will increase.
As a border force officer you will earn between Â£ 23,330 and Â£ 26,831 per year. Experienced or senior border officers, usually specialized in immigration, can earn between Â£ 27,000 and Â£ 40,000 per year.

The apprenticeship will last up to 18 months, but you will already have a permanent contract and will need to be able to work nights and early in the morning, 365 days a year.
The Home Office wants people who are able to provide quality service, make effective decisions and get their jobs done at a steady pace, with roles such as handling documentation, investigating errors and the implementation of law, controls and regulations.
You will also need to go through a security check before joining the team and must be 18 years of age or older and hold a driver’s license.
