An official from Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC), run by the government, said on Thursday that the agency and union Samahan ng mga Manggagawa sa Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (SMD) were set to sign a new collective agreement next month.
“The CIAC Board of Directors has approved a new collective agreement, an important agreement that will be formalized in the coming weeks and another Christmas present in advance to our deserving employees,” said Aaron Aquino, President of the CIAC .
The SMD was named after the old corporate identity of Clark International Airport and is the duly certified trade union organization established in 2001 as the exclusive bargaining representative of the core employees of the CIAC.
Aquino said the new collective agreement covers a five-year period and contains non-economic provisions.
“However, (the new collective agreement) will also include the provision on granting the incentive to the ongoing collective bargaining agreement of 2019, so that all CIAC staff will receive P 25,000.00 this year in as an incentive for mutual efforts to reach this new agreement, âAquino added.
Union president Dennis Lumanlan said his group praised the efforts of the CIAC management bargaining committee, led by lawyer Cynthia Dungca, for their “openness to defending workers’ interests in the final collective agreement. “.
“The CNA incentive is granted as an act of goodwill and in recognition of joint efforts and achievement of company goals and performance targets at lower cost, in accordance with applicable government laws, rules and regulations.” , Aquino said.
He added that the savings generated by various cost-cutting measures such as the conservation of fuel, electricity, water and office supplies, and other improvements, will be used for the incentives of the CNA.
