Clark Airport is experiencing an increase in passenger traffic and flights
Clark International Airport is experiencing a record upsurge in passenger traffic and the number of flights.
Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD), operator of Clark International Airport, said the airport handled 434,214 passengers from January to August. Of these, 363,878 flew to overseas destinations while 70,336 traveled to domestic destinations.
The figures represent a growth of 282.2%, with a 521.7% increase in the number of domestic passengers and a 255.57% increase in the number of international passengers compared to the same period last year.
There was a total growth of 16% compared to pre-pandemic figures. The number of international passengers recorded a strong increase of 31% of international passengers.
According to LIPAD CEO Noel Manankil, the numbers are not only positive signs of the travel industry’s recovery, but also of the attractiveness of using the new Clark terminal for travellers.
“CRK has achieved these milestones by basically following countries that open their borders,” Manankil said.
“Domestic travel, for its part, is expected to increase further in this final quarter with the expected rise in holiday travel,” he said.
