THE Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (Lipad) has signed a facilities management and energy efficiency contract with Professional Operations and Maintenance Experts Inc. (Promei) and Philippine DCS Development Corp. (PDDC) for the complete maintenance of the new Clark International Airport terminal building.

Promei and PDDC are joint ventures between ENGIE Services Philippines and Filinvest Development Corp. (FDC).

Lipad is a special purpose company created to manage the operations and maintenance of Clark International Airport in Pampanga. Lipad includes FDC, JG Summit Holdings Inc., Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc. and Changi Airports Philippines (I) Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Changi Airports International. The members of the consortium each have extensive experience in airport operations, air transport and real estate development.

Under the facilities management contract, Promei will perform routine and scheduled maintenance, as well as repair of electrical systems, mechanical and ventilation systems, plumbing systems, buildings and physical infrastructure. At the same time, as part of the energy efficiency performance contract, PDDC will finance, build and operate the entire terminal chilled water plant with a total installed capacity of 3,000 tonnes or refrigeration (TR ) under a build, own, operate and transfer model.

In addition, PDDC will undertake the energy efficiency element with full, factory-side operations and maintenance. Over a period of 22 years, these partnerships will ensure energy savings equivalent to more than 41,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions – the amount of CO2 that would be captured by approximately 1.6 million trees, with an additional 11,230 tonnes of potential CO2 savings from properly maintaining the systems.

The new terminal at Clark International Airport in Central Luzon, located in Clark Free Zone, Pampanga, reflects Lipad’s commitment to working to expand the airport’s travel network. With a capacity of up to 8 million passengers per year for international and domestic travel, the new terminal will connect Clark to more domestic and international points, cementing its position as the nation’s premier travel gateway.

“ENGIE is proud to leverage its Filinvest partnership to support Lipad on its sustainability journey,” said Thomas Baudlot, Managing Director (CEO) of Energy Solutions APAC and ENGIE Country Manager for South Asia. -East. “This development demonstrates that significant synergies can be derived from the integration of site maintenance and air conditioning production, which will enable Lipad to reduce its carbon emissions in a cost-effective manner.”

“I believe this historic partnership with PDDC will demonstrate what can be done to provide the Philippines with state-of-the-art air travel facilities that not only provide passenger convenience and comfort, but also fuel efficiency and cost savings. We are proud to play our part in fulfilling our social responsibility to minimize climate-related threats,” said Bi Yong Chungunco, CEO of Lipad.
